The Wave destroyed the world once. An undulating flood of glittering metal, that flows and crawls like the ocean squirming across the land. The Wave consumes all metal that it touches, devouring it whole.
The commonfolk fear The Wave. They know that any use of metal can summon The Wave again, to destroy their homes and villages. Therefore, the First Diviner spoke his First Rule.
“For those who cling to the relics of the past, these cursed tools of metal, shall be forsaken; marked with iron and cast out to wander The World. This is the Rule of Iron.“
Even to this day, there are those who ignore the First Diviner's words. But the commonfolk to not fear these heretics, for the Diviner's Order will protect them. Anyone who uses a tool of metal will be found, divested of name and home, forced out into the waste, and...

Marked by Iron is a sword and planet tabletop RPG set on a far-flung world recovering from a recent apocalyptic event.
You play one of the titular Marked, someone who has broken the Rule of Iron and been forced into the greater world. While society has cast you out, your curse is also your greatest strength. In a world made of plastic, metal is king.
This 47 page (24k word) book contains the all rules you need to play the game, build a character, and explore The World (as the planet’s true name has been lost to The Wave).

Marked by Iron uses a custom rules system, created to keep your games running fast and smooth. It's easy to learn, and even easier to teach other players.
- Actions are resolved by rolling above a 3 on a dice. The dice you roll is determined by your character's skill; an unskilled character would roll a d4, while an expert would roll a d12.
- Adjusting difficulty is achieved by rolling multiple dice and taking the higher result for Easy actions or the lower result for Hard actions.
- In combat, your turn is resolved with a single roll. Success determined the damage you deal, while failure results in being counterattacked by your foe.
Character creation is quick and easy, but there's plenty of choices to make. When you're building a new character you get to choose:
- A history that defines who you were before the Mark.
- The location of your Mark, determining you're treated by commonfolk.
- An archetype that lets you wield the power of iron against your foe.
- A legend, giving your character hope.
The book also contains:
- Character advancement rules, for leveling up.
- Rules for equipment and services.
- A spoiler-free setting and lore guide for players.
- Rules to help GMs run the game, create opponents, and build encounters.
